Motor Vehicle Records Check
Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs) are maintained by the Department of Motor Vehicle in all 50 states.
Recorded on MVRs is the driving history of the candidate, such as moving violations, motor vehicle accidents, driving with a revoked/suspended license and driving while impaired. It will also provide the state issued, status, and expiration date. Depending on the state, violations are provided for the last five to ten years.
If your candidate will be required to operate a company or church vehicle, rental car, or their own vehicle for business purposes, conducting a motor vehicle records check may be a reasonable risk management procedure.
Please Note: The state of Hawaii does not offer a MVR report to third parties. There are procedures for the candidate to obtain this information themselves at http://hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/library/motor-vehicle-safety-office/request-a-copy-of-your-hawaii-driver-history-record/
MVRs are also available for the following Canadian Provinces and U.S. Territories.
Canadian Provinces; British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Yukon.
